Penn Entertainment prepares groundbreaking ceremony for Hollywood Casino Columbus

Penn Entertainment will host a groundbreaking ceremony at Hollywood Casino Columbus on 28 November 2023.

The hotel is part of a $100m renovation project that will be added to the existing Hollywood Casino Columbus property.

The project will see 180 rooms added, as well as conference and meeting space, an additional restaurant and further amenities.

Penn Entertainment anticipates that the hotel will provide around 100 new jobs once the hotel opens.

Jay Snowden, Penn Entertainment CEO and President, said: “We are thrilled to soon begin construction on a new, state-of-the-art hotel at Hollywood Casino Columbus.

“Since opening in 2012, our Columbus property has experienced tremendous growth, and the addition of a hotel at Hollywood Casino Columbus will create a true regional destination.”

This hotel is one of four Penn Entertainment projects currently underway across the US, with other hotels announced for Aurora and Joliet,Online Casino Games Illinois and Nevada.

With an overall projected cost of $850m for the four projects, Gaming and Leisure Properties has contributed $575m towards them, while the City of Aurora has given $50m for its hotel.

The projects are going ahead, despite Penn Entertainment announcing a net loss of $725.1m in its Q3 2023 results.
